A friend asked me to post the self-introduction I did at the recent Historical Society Meeting. So, here it is: Good evening, My name is Monty Clendenin. I was born on the Chisholm Trail into a family of Intruders in Indian Territory. I was kicked out of the Boy Scouts for smoking unfiltered Camel cigarettes and kissin on Leona the farmers daughter who lived across the road from our abandoned one-room school house Scout hut. I spent 5 years at an institution for Juvenile Delinquents and one year at the Federal Prison in Fort Worth, TX. I was fired from my first pastorate out of seminary and was asked to leave the Southern Baptist Convention. After 7 years serving my first Presbyterian congregation I was asked to leave Oklahoma. At the job fair in Nashville, Tennessee I was scheduled to have an interview with two men on Saturday afternoon. I ran into them on Friday night at the hotel lounge and at 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning we were asked to leave the hotel. I moved to Anniston, AL on January 17th ,1991 the 1st day of Operation Desert Storm. I did not start it. I have enjoyed 23 years of relative calm and actually retired with the words Honorably Retired attached to my title. All these statements are true. I just did not tell all, nor chronologically. The person who writes the most stories and takes the most photos writes history
