A friend of mine named her third daughter Nour, in memory of the Palestinian children who lost their lives because of Israeli attacks. I just had to share her inspirations. ================================= We named her Nour. Nour means light in Arabic, and several other languages. But she will forever know that she was named after: Nour Yasser Abu Jame, 2 Nour was the youngest of three siblings and was awaiting the arrival of a new sibling. She lived in a three-story building in the town of Bani Suhaila (East Khan Younis), which housed four other families from her extended family. At approximately 7:50 pm on Sunday, 20 July 2014, Israeli warplanes bombarded her building without prior warning, leveling it to the ground. Nour was killed with 25 members of her family, including 19 children. The three sole survivors remember that the family had assembled to break the days fast. Nours father, Yasser, her pregnant mother, Fatima, and her two brothers, Sajed (7) and Siraj (4), also died in the attack. and she was also named after: Nour Abu Haseera, 2 Nour was killed on August 20, 2014 by an Israeli airstrike in al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City. Some reports suggest she was 3 years old. Her full name was Nour Mohammad Abu Haseera. Nour Marwan an-Ajdi, 10, of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, killed when the roof of her home collapsed from the impact of an IDF rocket that struck a nearby home. Nour Abu Dabbagh, 12 Nour lived in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. She was standing outside the family home on July 25th, 2014 when shrapnel from a nearby Israeli missile fatally wounded her and two other children: Mohammad Darazin (3) and his brother Abdul-Karim Darazin (4). Her full name was Nour Mohammad Salameh Abu Dabbagh. Nur al-Islam Abu Hwayshal, 6 At only 6, Nur al-Islam already loved public speaking. He was president of his preschool class and eagerly memorized and delivered short speeches to his classmates. Less than an hour before he was killed, his family posted a video on YouTube of him reciting the lyrics from a famous song about Gaza by Lebanese musician Khaled al-Habr. Aaya Nour ash-Sha’er, 13, died after an Israeli missile struck her family home in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
