A friend of mine travelling in a flight from Singapore to Penang, - TopicsExpress

A friend of mine travelling in a flight from Singapore to Penang, took 7 hours before that flight finally landed. This was due to the horrible weather in Penang over the weekend. The flight circled for quite a number of hours but could not land. It then had to reroute back to Singapore for refuelling and then back again to Penang. Nature can be dangerous. It can cause unforseen complications. But we deal with it as best as we can and survive. So it pisses me off tremendously when the men and women who put their lives on the line, are ridiculed when they get into trouble due to extreme conditions caused by nature. CB240 was luckily found with all crew members alive and unharmed. But looking at comments from some of the readers yesterday made me wish these smart alecks were the ones on a drifting boat in the middle of the sea in a raging storm. I saw a number of comments that said the crew sold the boat for money. Or the government sold the boats. Or government didnt pay the salary so these guys mutinied. I dont think many of them appreciate the dangers and risk our men and women in uniform subject themselves to everyday to ensure that we are safe. But to ridicule them based on little knowledge of true conditions? To disrespect their role and sacrifice? How low can you go? What right do these people have to speak as such when their biggest scare would be sitting in a flight that has been delayed due to bad weather. And they talk about it for months. Or the biggest daily risk they face is deciding which road they take will lead to a jam. Or when the most severe injury they suffer is a paper cut when doing photocopy? Or a finger cramp while using the mouse? And yet many think they are being smart degrading and ridiculing our people who face actual dangers to their lives on a daily basis. Alot of people are in need of a reality check. Maybe even a lesson in life before they acquire some sense which are common, but obviously overlooked when they were born.
