A friend that I greatly respect and admire was talking about - TopicsExpress

A friend that I greatly respect and admire was talking about owning your emotions today. Such a difficult thing to master, but such a truly life-changing habit. Nobody ever *makes* me have a bad day. The manner in which *I choose* to react to others is completely my responsibility. Over the last 10 years or so, Ive worked hard to explain to people near me that I do not wish to engage in blaming. Period. Even if I am not pleased with or disagree with your choices doesnt mean I am placing blame. Does blaming someone else for your bad day make your day better? Nope. Im not for a moment insinuating that if someone says something hurtful, it shouldnt hurt. However, continuing to wallow in that bad feeling and then blaming your own bad behavior on them doesnt make it better. In addition, it also goes a long way toward healing when you can continue to smile and say I still love you - even when you are not your best self. I find that often improves the mood of those around me, too. via Dave Howlett Rhb
