A genocide is currently taking place in Southern Sudan. The UN is as usual compiling just reports. It is waiting for the number of the dead to reach about one million before it can declare that the situation is very serious and needs some direct intervention to stop the massacre. Even the first recommendation is likely to be recommendations that sanctions be imposed on the perpetrators and that they should be indicted by the Hague so that when they are tired of fighting they can go and enjoy free sausages there. Is this world body really relevant to the challenges of our times? The so called Police of the World seems to be more interested in the ideological wars of Russia and Ukraine than in those of a poor African country. What a world!
