A giant #panda scheduled to be released into the wild later this month has been found dead in southwest China’s #Sichuan Province. Local sources confirmed on Saturday that the panda, named #XinYuan, was found dead on November 20th. The two-year-old female lived in the giant panda conservation and research center in Sichuan. She reportedly died from respiratory and renal failure. The panda was trained in searching for food and water while avoiding predators, and was likely to be released in the Liziping Nature Reserve. The staff are said to have searched for nearly two days before discovering her body. The enclosure was, thereafter, disinfected and several pandas were quarantined. China started sending captive-bred pandas into the wild in 2006, and has released four so far.
