Many people including myself are lamenting the sad passing of Robin Williams yesterday, Depression is a terrible thing and I suffer through episodes of it around my birthday in January. Its always cold and rainy and throughout my life, things just pile up at that time of the year. I,ve learned through the years to handle my own bad times like I handled bad tours. I find solace in my dreams. I just close the door or curtain and turn off to the lights, close my eyes, and escape to a better place. Thankfully my bouts with depression only last a week or two. My heart goes out to the people that cant shake it for months at a time. I was listening to Sarah McLachlans Angel and pray that Robin is flying away In the Arms of the Angels. Todays piece is about flying away in my dreams. It is a little bit of hopeful humor to and is submitted with all respect to all of us that are still here left to carry on. Astral Projection Sometimes I travel ‘round the world And never leave my chair My mental travel agent Saves me tons on my airfares I’ll travel to Tibet and climb To see the panorama I’ll stop and have some tea and chat And bond with Dali Lama And then to New York City I’ll establish good relations With belligerent ambassadors In THE United Nations Java, England, Katmandu Somalia, Qatar United Arab Emirates And places near and far Then I’ll go to Africa To roam the Serengeti I’ll hike the Northwest Wilderness And maybe see a Yeti A noise will then distract me And will leave my dreams bereft All at once I’ll wake right up And find I haven’t left Jeff Burkhart’s “Rhyme and Reason”
