A good morning for me in the Gambia. A good breakfast and chats - TopicsExpress

A good morning for me in the Gambia. A good breakfast and chats with the hotel staff. Everyone is friendly and professional. Sizzla Kalonji is staying at the same hotel. I saw him briefly from a distance but he disappeared before I could talk to him. I am told that he is a very down to earth person. He performs tonight while I present on Tuesday. I went to a place this morning where crocodiles are kept, about a hundred of them. Some of them are huge. It was an amazing experience and I actually petted one. I saw a group of Black women there from Mauritania. The major ethnic groups here are the Mandinka, Serrer, Walaf, Jola and Fula. Gambia is also a very stable country. Much to my pleasant surprise I am treated like a VIP here. I have a nice private car, my own driver, my own guide and my own policeman. I cannot even open the door for myself or carry my own bags. It is all very funny to me and I could not seem to stop laughing at it all. And then I think that all of the guests here--Sizzla, Mutabaruka, Julius Garvey and I are the descendants of those Africans taken away from home long ago, and the laughter is replaced by tears.
