A hardscrabble bit of earth, before and after. At the juncture of Hendricks Avenue and the Florida East Coast Railroad tracks in South Jacksonville sits a patch of hardened land. At this crossing of commerce and convenience sits a sliver of land crossed a million times but hardly noticed.
