A highlight from my most recent LeMons race on MLK weekend. Peter, Aaron, and I were competing in our diesel-powered Porsche 911 dubbed Ferkel the Nein-11. You may hear Porsche and think of a really fast car. Normally thats true, but our car has a low-revving 90hp Diesel motor. Its strengths are fuel economy, and reliability -- all of which matters a lot in endurance racing. But it does not have power. Still there comes a time when you encounter a more powerful car thats making slower lap times than you are. You have to eventually pass that car to keep making progress and, uh, you know, win and stuff. When you dont have horsepower to help you with your passes, you need other ways to -- at least temporarily -- get an advantage. One of my favourite techniques is the scrape off, as demonstrated in this video.
