A huge thank you to Gemma & Ivan who took the time to write this lovely testimonial about me after I photographed their amazing wedding at Newton Hall this year. Chuffed is not the word.. He raises the bar… In the initial brain-showering stages of planning our big day we decided against a photographer as we had plenty of ‘iPhone photographer friends’ and didn’t want to splash the pennies. But as the planning progressed and the reality of the significance of the day dawned on us we realised how important having good memories of our day real was. Ivan & I are the master of the slightly sozzled, chin-up & side-on selfie but otherwise school-photo awkward. This in mind it was an absolute must that we didn’t have cameras in our faces, were made to pose or heaven forbid kiss! More than anything we wanted beautiful natural memories that captured the whole essence of our day…and we wanted to look good! Searching the internet was a minefield with so many photographers to choose from, but the bonus was that anyone reputable has a gallery allowing us to dismiss the masses really quickly. Phil Nunez’s website stood out a mile to us because of the honest images, but also the way he wrote about his passion for his work and his style of photography. Timeless, classic and familiar. We chatted on the phone which instantly made us comfortable enough to sign-up and arranged for a pre-wedding shoot on his recommendation (we lived 300 miles away). I cannot endorse this more! Not only do we have some of the best pictures (even better than the slightly sozzled, chin-up & side-on selfies) but it allowed us to feel at ease with Phil ready for the big day. Prior to the wedding Phil had us fill out a form about any specific people or moments we wanted capturing which was a brilliant idea – all these little touches just go to support his professionalism and helped take the pressure off of us. On the day itself it really felt that Phil completely blended into the background. The way he works is so subtle that some guests didn’t even realise we had a photographer…and of course makes for the most natural of pictures. Intimate moments of our wedding party captured like there was no-one else in the room. And finally to the results! To say we were pleased was the understatement of the decade. Our wedding, rather cheesily was the best day of our lives and Phil has actually captured all those memories in the most stunning way imaginable. All the big moments are there, but so are all the little touches that passed us by in the whirl of the day and helped us fill in the blanks. The different compositions, colours, subjects all blended together to tell the most wonderful story. As the ultimate memento we had Phil create and print an album for us. This is nothing like a photo album you can order of the web, it’s a beautifully bound album you’ll happily buy a coffee table to proudly place it on! I cannot imagine there is a wedding photographer out there who could have done a better job, really. He genuinely raises the bar. Would we use Phil again, absolutely! Do we recommend him, without a doubt! He Just a shame we don’t intend getting married again… Gemma & Ivan
