A large number of Stevenson students and teacher Shane Cook were part of 100+ volunteers from the area that donated their time and service to assist the community of Royal Melbourne with clean-up this past Saturday. The group picked up debris that littered the area following the devastating explosion which took place in Long Grove Friday night. SHS juniors Justin, Marissa and Carly Happ and senior Jack Dreyer helped coordinate the volunteer efforts. Neighbors contributed by donating water, masks, gloves and trash bags. After the long day, volunteers were rewarded with pizza as a thanks for their services. This effort and day was something to not go unnoticed or acknowledged. The way the kids and the community came together was astonishing and I am sure there will be more where this came from seeing the debris and clean up will go on for weeks and months. These kids are something to be so proud of, SHS parent Nina Happ wrote in an email to Stevenson.
