A lie is a false statement or a piece of information deliberately presented as being true when it’s not. It is anything meant to deceive or give a wrong impression. It’s to portray something as reality. A lie may be just words, as many liars believe, but it can and most likely will, cause serious harm to someone because we’ve started a chain reaction of falsities. And eventually the foundation will crumble, because a lie can only support its self. People tell lies everyday for many reasons. It does not matter if the lie is considered to be big or little; a lie is a lie. It is all deception. I’ve heard it said that some people lie out of love, but there is no love in a lie, because you are deceiving the other person and yourself. A person who lies is a concealer of the truth and eventually he or she will reap the harvest of his or her deception, because a false witness will not go unpunished. If we are to love the Lord God and our neighbors as ourselves, we must first know how to love, and we cannot do that through lies and deceptions.
