I have been studying this for my job for about 5 years and the consensus was I was wasting my time as it would never be widespread. Well, the rise of solar power and wind power use combined with evolving LED lighting technology and the use of motion sensors and photocells to save energy, is now making this an attractive alternative to AC power. Tesla is rolling over in his grave. The first real application of this technology came up today at work. An engineer specified this solution for the construction of a new small office building and our firm has to bid to distributors and contractors. Well, I knew much about the theory, but today I had to learn about the actual practice. Learned much with the help of a couple co-workers and I think we have a handle on this and I hope to see it used in more new projects. I think our team has a better grasp of the technology than our competitors.
