A little inquiry into Latin American Democratic Socialism ::posted Sat, 11 Oct 2014 20:47:31 +0000:: ift.tt/1xE5bFo This is simply my own inquiry and inspection into Democratic Socialism. I am by no means the most educated on political economy so keep the responses civil. As a Marxist-Leninist I would be naturally critical towards Democratic Socialism as I find the state to be a bourgois instrument that cannot be used as a platform for the working class to attain ultimate working class rule, revolutionary force must occur in order for the capitalist class, who hold the power of the state to be overthrown while the state apparatus is seized by the workers. However, I have noticed that in Chile under Allende and under Chavez, Democratic Socialism has indeed seemed to function well, being able to keep the capitalists down while the socialists rule. In the rest of Latin America democratic socialism seems considerable to emerge as well. Along side this, as we all know, Latin America is actually diplomatically and politically resistant to the United States, especially Ecuador, Bolivia, Coloumbia and Venezuela. The working class in Colombia and Ecuador are often exploited by American capitalists so would this mean that these countries can simply become capitalist countries that will resist the United States and try to develop their own national bourgeoisie and achieve overall economic autonomy? There seems to be another overall side to this, that is capitalism is nowadays developed so that there are exploiter nations and exploited nations, this progression has occured because of various contradictions of capitalism like the tendency of the rate of profit to fall, basic class antagonisms in the first world could not be maintained for longer without revolution, and so on. So if this is the case, is that why Democratic Socialism seems to likely to succeed in Latin America and why it is succeeding in Venezuela? Is it because capitalism and national liberation simply cannot be compatible and that revolutionary platform will not be necessary because political power in Latin America is not subjected to Western power? This is just my shower thought frankly, so I have not done intensive research into Latin America and simply used my overall understanding of the area. submitted by hungrytacos[link] [2 comments] [Forwarded by the MyLeftBlogosphere news engine.
