A little later than normal - I had a Sweeney & Todd pie to eat. Steak and Stilton in case you are interested. High pressure is set to remain close to the UK for the foreseeable future - with subtle changes occasionally. I have to say the forecasting this week gone has been my least favourite set-up to do - high pressure has been slightly to our north, bringing an easterly wind - I do find it more difficult to work out the thickness and duration of cloud in such a set-up, especially more than 24 hours in advance - very subtle changes in wind direction can mean the difference between cloud all day and sunshine all day. Anyway, forecast time. It is pleasantly boring. Tonight will be mostly cloudy and mild, possibly no lower than 16C. Friday is most likely to be cloudy all day. There may be some sunny breaks in the afternoon. Temperatures around 21C - if the sun comes out for any length of time then 23C is possible, but unlikely. Cloud thickening overnight as a very weak weather front approaches from the north. Very mild overnight, perhaps 17C. Saturday will start cloudy and a spot of light rain will be possible. The sun will come out in the afternoon - I am not sure of the extent or timing, but there will be some sunshine. A 20% chance of a shower developing for later in the afternoon too. 23C with enough sunshine. Dry overnight, 14C. Sunday will be a gorgeous day, plenty of sunshine, some fair weather cloud and reasonably warm at 21C. Maybe even 22C. Clear overnight, 10C. As a sidenote - if you head say 40 miles south of here on Sunday, it could reach 25C. Monday will be another day of good sunny spells and fair weather cloud. High pressure is just that bit closer to us with the breeze from the continent and not over the North Sea so this brings sunshine and not loads of cloud. Temperatures around 22C. Clear overnight, 10C. Tuesday will again be a fine day but more in the way of cloudy likely. Around 20C. By Wednesday we may well be dragging warmer air up from the south - however with cloud amounts uncertain, temperatures could be anywhere from 20C to 24C. Late next week and into next weekend look like remaining dry with variable amounts of sunshine and temperatures between 19C and 24C - depending on cloud amounts and exact wind directions. Just a 5% chance of a shower late next week as low pressure will be over France. They should stay well south. For my sister - the sea will be calm next weekend. I do expect a brief cooler and showery spell around the middle of the month before going back to warm and settled. And that was a pretty easy forecast to write. Have a super weekend.
