A little perspective: It really hadnt hit me yet until this morning. I was envisioning my tasks for the next week, and it fell on me like 10 ton of bricks: Today will be the last Saturday I work for Westlake Ace Hardware after nearly 13 years with the company. Its funny to think about, but I (finally) grew up here.. Its been one of the most (if not THE MOST) stable relationships I have ever had in my life.. Shes seen me through friends, girlfriends, rock bands, my marriage, the birth of my kids, my divorce, and every little facet of change I have had in my life over a decade plus. Ive made life long friends with coworkers, mentors, customers, and all the like. Its been a rock of stability in times when Ive needed one. Ive gained education, life experiences, and a sense of pride and maturity because of this mutual relationship. Unmeasurable practical real-world life skills with value of infinite proportions. This attachment is easily defined in the simplest of terms: this was more than a job, a lot of times this was an extension of my FAMILY. The beautiful thing is that Im not leaving in spite. Im not leaving with a single bad taste in my mouth. Im simply leaving to take that next step to move my life forward. A logical step for the betterment of myself and my kids. Making sure, and keeping confident, that if a return to my roots is in the cards- that hand will be well-played. I want to thank all of you that Ive worked with, come in contact with, or simply brushed past in my time here. Youve all been a part of influencing and making an impact on my life and Im eternally grateful. Im proud of my Westlake family. I love you all. Thursday will be my last day; but for now- its time to rock a Saturday like no other!
