A little sketch of an apartment complex in Mauritius. One day after I had left, I returned to sketch the owner. A rat ran in to the building before the owner turned up, and neither myself nor the cleaner wanted to deal with it. All was quiet for a while as I drew the owner, whom I had alerted about the rat (he figured it would run out in a while). Suddenly there were shrieks and screams coming from the apartment: the poor rat had been found...and dispatched. The owner tried his hardest to keep his face calm and impassive throughout, so as not to disturb the portrait, but it was a great effort.
