"A little yeast leavens the whole lump of dough." Galatians - TopicsExpress

"A little yeast leavens the whole lump of dough." Galatians 5:9 The little balls of dough on my mother’s baking sheet didn’t seem like much when she slid the pan in the oven. But when she pulled out the pan, what a marvelous change had taken place. Those little balls of dough now were large, golden brown dinner rolls, so good that a store couldn’t begin to match them. Yeast rolls, she called them. They were wonderful! The yeast made the difference. Usually we think of yeast in positive terms such as its good results when used in baking. However, the Scriptures use yeast as a metaphor for the negative influence something or someone can have on another person. Such is the case in today’s passage. Paul was disturbed that someone was preventing or influencing the Galatian believers from being obedient to the truth they had come to know in Christ. Paul expressed confidence they wouldn’t be deceived by whoever was troubling them. All of us have influence over someone. What kind of influence will we be? Will we influence others to be changed in Christ or corrupted by sin? Father, I desire to influence someone for Christ through Your Spirit moving within me. Fill me.
