A long day yesterday to Frankfurt and spinning around back to Jeddah......but what a show by Mother Nature..... ......Heading south over the Balkans by Dubrovnik the line of thunderstorms were the like I have not seen for many years.....and I dont like thunderstorms! The weather radar showed gaps between these monsters but Ive been suckered in before, as we got closer those gaps......joined up. The lightning was so intense and impressive it seemed that a catastrophic nuclear war had been initiated. No way through, wasnt even going to try......so the only option was to head west, 120 miles off track later, and west of Brindisi in Southern Italy we were clear, and could turn back on an easterly heading.......an absolutely stunning display of natures power. Overhead we watched what must have been a meteorite burn up as it arced high above leading a trail for almost 5 seconds, illuminated by a spectacular orange moon which was slowly rising above the horizon. As the upper level clouds quickly disappeared the Milky Way appeared snaking across the high heavens. 30 years of doing this and I never take for granted the incredible sights that we are privileged to see......no photos......no photos could capture or do justice to the sights of last night.....I am very, very lucky.
