A long one this; about the Emperors New Clothes. Over decades Ive become used to the rhetoric that Israel are the good guys and are ever justified in their actions, whereas Palestine is a hotbed for terrorists that cause the people of Israel to live in constant fear. Ive even bought into that myself - talking about both sides etc. A Lib Dem politician dared to say he could understand the actions of Hamas, and has been politically assassinated as a result. It seems that showing compassion, understanding and support towards Israel is acceptable by most (even encouraged), but doing the same for Palestine is considered damaging to the situation or even offensive (Ive been accused of both.) To employ “both sides” rhetoric completely misrepresents the situation. It is not “both sides” who take thousands of political prisoners. Both sides do not systematically torture each other. Both sides do not control each other’s freedom of movement, or access to the sea, drinking water, and education.
