A look at today in aviation history! Apparently our aviator predecessors were busier than we thought on this particular day in history! Here are a few things that happened on June 29th - • 2011 – KLM becomes the first airline in the world to provide flights using biofuel. • 1977 – Italian Professor Enrico Forlanini’s steam-powered helicopter is tested at Alexandria, Egypt. • 1934 – June 29-30 – Benjamin and Joseph Adamowicz brothers, amateur pilots, flew across the Atlantic. • 1932 – A F9C Sparrowhawk parasite fighter hooks onto the USS Akron for the first time. • 1909 – In opening demonstration flights before the U. S. Army at Fort Myer, Virginia, Orville Wright makes the first flight with the new Wright A built to replace the one destroyed in September 1908.
