A lot of articles have been published claiming that converting the the US to Solar Roadways is impractical. Here is my quick answer to these objections. There is roughly 29,000 square miles of road surface to cover. We need roughly 5.6 billion panels to cover that area. That’s a price tag of $56 trillion!” says one critic of this project, he’s saying that is too expensive. sounds impossible? too much money? until you consider that these would provide more energy then we use and would pay off the cost very quickly. so… How much does the US economy spend on energy per year? For 2010 (last full year available from sources referenced): • Total energy expenditure (nominal): $1.205 trillion • Gross Domestic Product (nominal): $14.498 trillion Energy expenditure as a % of GDP: 8.31% Sources: • eia.doe.gov/totalenergy/d... • U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) These are the numbers for 2010 which I’m quite sure have increased and will continue to increase. With these numbers it would take 46 years to pay off the investment and the benefits of the energy would continue into future profits forever. Electric cars that charge as they drive end ALL dependance on OIL, we end ALL dependance on coal, natural gas, end the Dangers of Fracking, oil pipe lines, oil spills, greenhouse gas, cost of climate change, and more. The list of benefits goes on and on… and it pays itself off in the time a lot of families take to pay off a house. Then it keeps on making a profit forever until we don’t use roads any more :D and even when we are all flying around the power is still be generated. :D So that is my answer to these articles that call this impractical. :) https://youtube/watch?v=qlTA3rnpgzU
