A lot of my patients have been asking me about the latest study that purportedly links omega3s (fish oil) to prostate cancer. Here is a link to a review of that study pointing out that it was flawed in many respects. The biggest flaw (and the only point of the paper) was that blood levels of omega3s in study participants in a trial of selenium and vitamin E for prostate cancer (NOT omega3s) correlated with an increased risk for prostate cancer. Participants were not even asked about whether they took supplements or even ate fish on a regular basis. This link provides some detailed critique of the study by a respected urologist. medscape/viewarticle/808402?nlid=32243_426&src=wnl_edit_medp_fmed&uac=27439CT&spon=34
