A lot of people in the next few days are going to be blaming - TopicsExpress

A lot of people in the next few days are going to be blaming suicide and saying how horrible it is; the truth is that depression kills. When someone can no longer see any point in surviving and that their only out is this one thing to stop the pain, it seems like a completely reasonable option. Depression is especially difficult to address because the people suffering from it feel like they are a burden to everyone around them and anything they say is going to bother people who dont care either way about them. No one cares, so why bother saying anything? Its especially hard when one has reached out before and nothing was done. You cant will it away. You arent going to say anything to even people you love because depression inherently makes you feel like you are useless and burdensome. The only ONLY positive is the attention Robin Williams death will bring to mental illness and maybe provide to someone, anyone, a reason to seek help. You dont need to find a mental health professional, at least not by yourself. You just need to tell someone you trust. Or if you can recognise that someone you know and love is having symptoms of depression or manic episodes and talk to them about it. Often they dont realize whats going on or they dont think anyone else cares and are waiting for you to say something for them to open up about it.
