A magnitude-5.1 earthquake jolted some parts of Negros Oriental and Occidental this afternoon, Monday, January 26, 2015, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The Phivolcs said the temblor, which was tectonic in origin, occurred at 3:09 p.m. with its epicenter traced at 18 km North West of Sipalay (Negros Occidental) with a depth of 21km. The temblor was felt at: Intensity 5 - Hinoba-an and Sipalay, Negros Occidental Intensity 4 - Iloilo City; Tayasan, Sta. Catalina, Bayawan City, Siaton and Basa, Negros Oriental Intensity 3 - Tobias Fornier, Antique; Ayungon, Negros Oriental Intensity 2 - Dipolog City; Calamba, Misamis Occidental; Dumaguete City; Jordan, Guimaras; Cebu City.
