A man accused of pretending to interpret an Ebola press conference in New York is actually a Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) working with a team. Within the last few hours Jonathan Lamberton has gone viral for supposedly fake interpreting this press conference. People posted on twitter that he was just talking with someone in the audience who also appears to be signing. The video shows him working with a hearing interpreter (in the audience) to adequately translate the press conference. Many in the Deaf community prefer a CDI so that translations are presented with more ASL grammar than English grammar. While many did call this interpreting fake, there were others who found it superb.
