A ministry GCP helps in Pakistan recently sent us a report regarding the current floods. They stated, “The floods have literally devastated our country this year. Its the worst flooding in the last 60 years of our history as a nation. More than 50% of the country is now under water. More than 1,600 rural villages have been completely or partially wiped out. Close to 300 people have died and more than 4,000 animals have been swept away and killed. Thousands and thousands of acres of crops estimating in the billions of rupees have been destroyed, leaving the poor farmers stranded and helpless.” Many Christian families have lost most, if not all of their belongings and their houses have collapsed. In some places the water is more than 6 feet high so people use small boats to get around. Helpless Christian families need two types of help: short term and long term. The short term help includes providing food, beds, blankets, clothes, shoes, medicines, dishes/utensils etc. The long term help includes the provision of building materials so that they can rebuild their homes. This has been a devastating blow to millions of people, yet it has received minimal coverage in news media.
