A mothers love Today was another gorgeous and beautiful day in my city by the bay. We celebrated my moms birthday at the Stinking Rose Restaurant at borders of Chinatown and North Beach. Friends, relatives and family all met there to give their love and support to my mom as my mom has just made a milestone in her recovery from her recent hospitalization. My mom asked me to entertain her new friend and her other friends as well. Naturally, I was more than happy to do that. I had a delightful conversation with all her friends. My moms friend son was apparently a big wig for the big company called Alibaba. It was announced yesterday in the news that this company is moving forward to go IPO. This company is like Ebay, Paypal, Google, etc combined. Apparently it is doing extremely well worldwide. My moms friend was very interested in my new book and we discussed about it. She had known my parents even before I was born and knew about all the challenges we faced when growing up. As we got into the details of my life and discussed about the challenges I had, it brought tears to my eyes. My mom recently told me about how I was subjected to physical abuse when I was young. I didnt even remember it. Perhaps it was too painful to remember and I repressed it. I told my moms friend that despite all that had happened and finding out about the abuse, I still forgive my parents and still loved them. By now my eyes were already burning to hold back the tears. My moms friend was deeply touched and asked me to give her copy of my book. She told me how my mom was a very special and generous person. I told her I agreed but that ,unfortunately, there are those who only see the bad in her. I told my moms friend I see the good, the bad, the ugly and the beauty within my mom but choose to see and focus on the good. After we spoke I felt that I had really touched my moms friend deeply and we connected to a deeper level. I was surprised that my mom had these friends since her early college days. They were all professionals and quite well to do. My mom may not be as successful as they are but her friends accept her as she is. I was quite touched by that. My mom made herself up and looked stunning as usual. Although she look like Joan Collins dressed like Britney Spears, I thought she looked great. Others raised their eyebrow by her brazen outfit. When we had a photo shoot, my mom had a Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction. LOL! I just had to laugh. Others were so embarrassed. I just had to smile and tell them my mom plan that wardrobe malfunction for publicity sake. Everybody burst out laughing and soon the party proceeded without any more incidents. Thank goodness. LOL! The food was great and the service outstanding! As we departed the restaurant, my mom did something uncharacteristic of her; she proceeded to hug me and then followed it by giving me a kiss on the cheek. I felt so much love and gratitude from her. I was surprised but deeply touched by it. I never expect anything from my mom when I help her. I do it out of duty, love and respect. And because I realize she as well as all of us has that Divine spark of God within. After we departed, I hopped into my car and began to drive home. A short while into the drive, I began to process the feelings of love and gratitude my mom shared with me earlier. It brought tears to my eyes. My mom has always showered me all sorts of gifts to showed her appreciation of all I do for her but this moment was priceless. To me being able to touch my mom at this deep level was more special than any material gift from my mom. I was so full of gratitude that my mom finally got it that I really care about her and was able to embrace my love at a more deep and Divine level and give of her heart through touch. Happy birthday mom! I love you!!
