A murderer was sentenced to death. As he was escorted out he saw his Mom and asked Cops if he could met his Mom...Cops allowed him to do so.....he pretended he was going to kiss her on the cheek but instead bit her ear off. The Cops roughed him up and on being questioned that why did he do this ghastly act...he said....had my Mom stopped me when I told her of my first few petty robberies I did in school I would not have embarked on a life of crime. Without a doubt the hand that rocks the cradle molds us. Our values....religosity.....character...... are all molded by our Moms....Ma ke pett se koyi seekh ke nahi aatha.....but learns everything from Mom. Dads are the Enforcers........ and we try to emmulate our Dads. We see Dads working hard and taking care of the family. The hard work becomes a mindset for kids. How many times I have seen young kids pretending they are going to work like their Dads. Or at the Dining table sitting on the chair where Dad usually sits. Idle income Dads tend to be very bad role models for kids. Getting up at noon.....wasting time....drinking are endemic in this lot. How can a Dad , with a glass of whisky in his hand, teach his kid not to drink! Or while lazing in bed telk his kid about the virtues of hard work. My ears still ring from the slaps I got when I was growing.....hurt me then and boy did I bawl....but today the ringing makes me say a thank you. And here too the example set by by my Ma and Pa guided me....my Grandma would see my Dad, a very senior Naval Officer, returning from work late with some of his staff and security.....she would shout at him.....in work you have forgotten everything....did you do your Nitnem today...and my Dad would very respectfully try to placate her.....as his staff and security looked on embaressingly . And my Ma always sided with my Grandma
