A new law, effective May 1st, 2014, will prohibit youth under the age of 18 to use a tanning bed. TAN to Perfection has always pushed for stricter regulations in the tanning industry, and applauds the government for stepping forward and realizing the need is there. We feel, however, that they went in the wrong direction by banning U.V. exposure to those under the age of 18. They need to regulate tanning bed operators rather than the users. Being said, TAN to Perfection has always promoted sensible, smart U.V. exposure, both indoors and outdoors to our youth and clientele. A parent’s signature has always been required for those under the age of 18. The government has now taken that right away from the parents. Effective May 1st, anyone under the age of 18 will require a doctor’s consent. Being a professional salon, with many procedures in place to minimize risks, we have the support of some local doctors in the area who believe it is much smarter to slowly develop a base tan indoors, without overexposure, than it is to hit the beach and burn. We have area Doctors and medical staff who utilize TAN to Perfections ultraviloet light services for their patients and themselves for many medical reasons. On Wednesday April 30th, TAN to Perfection invites our area’s 16 and 17 year olds to drop by the salon and have a complimentary session. If you have tanned with us before, we will provide you with a printed tanning history and other educational material that you may take to your doctor if you choose, as well as explain your options. If you are a first time tanner, you will need to bring a parent with you. The more informed and educated you are about the benefits and risks associated with ultraviolet light exposure both indoors and out, the wiser choices you can make about your health and well-being. Discounts will also be available for spray tanning services.
