A new study suggests that the aerosol pollution that is prevalent due to the burning of fossil fuels actually reduces the frequency of hurricanes. In fact, they have a cooling effect that reduces water temperatures thus reducing hurricane frequency and strength. However, since the outbreak of environmentalism and the reduction of these catastrophic chemicals, ocean temperatures have risen which has lead to this increase in super storms like Katrina and Sandy among others in just the past decade.
