A nice animated model of how the solar system really works. - TopicsExpress

A nice animated model of how the solar system really works. However, I *ALWAYS* knew this. I assumed everybody understood this too: the solar system is always moving through space, as each planet moves around the sun at a different rate of speed. At the same time, each planet with moons rotates on its axis at a different rate of speed, and each of those moons orbits their planet at differing rates of speed. This animated model doesnt take into account the Kuiper Belt or the much-theorized Oort Cloud at the outer edge of the solar system. Keep in mind that while OUR solar system is moving, millions of other solar systems are moving, doing their own dance in relation to their star. Of course, all of these solar systems are interplaying with the overall Milky Way Galaxy, in which we are a miniscule part of. That our solar systems dance through interstellar space is much like a DNA helix, among other things, is also no surprise. Nature is repetition. A galaxy and a hurricane resemble one another. Planets rotate around a sun, electrons orbit a condensed nucleus this forming an atom. The universe is filled with wonders, but perhaps the greatest wonder of all is that weve seen only the smallest fraction of only one percent of everything the universe has to offer.
