A nod to long-time-ago introduction to Thanksgiving.... kayas mana - a long time ago, in Residential School, by way of teaching us the meaning of Thanksgiving the Sisters/nuns would dress us up in Indian outfits complete with fringes and headbands with multicoloured feathers singing 1, little 2, little 3 little Indians.., hopping around in a circle whooping and banging on tom toms ... I cant imagine what it was like for our parents watching this spectacle, I know as a participant I was embarrassed. Attached is a video of how beautiful our songs and dances truly are, a far cry from my Residential School days experience. Today is the day our family gets together to enjoy each others company and share a meal... I am thankful that Thanksgiving affords us that time together. I am also thankful that Sandra arrived safely - from the UK - and is here to share this family time with us. The food mostly prepared and cooked by Lua and Josh was amazing. nanaskomon nanaskomon nanaskomon Sending love and hugs to our extended family in Skipton, North Yorkshire, and sending love and hugs to our family celebrating Thanksgiving at Onion Lake Cree Nation, and to friends and family in Duncan and Victoria B.C.
