A parking lot to re-invent the world: OK, Ive got it. Lets throw a festival this summer, and instead of charging $200-400 per ticket, charge $1,000 per car. The more people can fit into the car (legally), the cheaper the tickets are, so people will have a very strong incentive to carpool. We get 200 cars, and with the money buy a big field somewhere for $150,000 to have the festival. Instead of letting the cars just sit in a parking lot, well link all the car batteries together to create a DC micro grid, to power LED lights along all the pathways and power wifi meshnet and FM radio station that will simulcast live music, allowing for multiple channels of silent dance parties 24 hours a day without the need for expensive and power-hungry sound equipment, with Bass Aware holsters available for people to use whenever they want to, leaving the field peaceful and quiet for those who are not partying. Well run the cars to charge the batteries using Syngas that comes from gasifying our trash, woodchips, and local biomass and use the hot exhaust from the cars for cooking and to heat water for showers, before passing the greywater from the showers and CO2 rich gas from the engines into inflatable greenhouses placed in rings around edges of the festival, that will grow Duckweed, converting the light from the sun and the CO2 from the cars into biomass that can be burned again in the gasifiers. The engines will run air compressors that will provide compressed air for powertools in our fablab and shop, where we will build anything else we need for the party. Well be producing our own energy and processing our own waste, and so when the festival ends...oh right, the festival never ends. It just becomes and eco-village made out of parking spaces...
