A personal appeal from our friendly Marketing Manager, Sarah: Ive been with Texas Discovery Gardens for seven years. Why? Each day brings a new challenge: one day Im playing in the dirt, the next Im catching newly-emerged butterflies for our noon release. Ive worked with rental clients during the day and brought home Madagascar hissing cockroaches for an outreach booth at night. Nothing compares to the days I get to help teach children. Kids are so smart and pick up so quickly; sometimes a field trip to Texas Discovery Gardens is the only Nature Time theyll have in weeks or even years. I love asking kids how much they think a cloud weighs (think dozens or even hundreds of elephants!). I love hearing their gardening stories and learning about their favorite vegetable or butterfly. And I truly love watching their expressions when they find out what a live butterfly egg or caterpillar looks like. Its why I have come to work here for the better half of a decade, and its why our wonderful staff, board and volunteers stay with us for years. In fact, our Board and Staff have gotten together to pledge $6,000 in matching funds during this years North Texas Giving Day.
