A personal letter from Andrew regarding the elections. Dear JoshGen Church, So the elections have come and gone and I am sure many of us are wondering ... what happened?! How did the Body of Christ in South Africa not realise the seriousness of the hour and vote wiser than they evidently chose to. How did so many of Gods people vote for economic security at the expense of human life, conscience and religious freedom? How did the Church ignore the voice of godly leaders like Angus Buchan and Errol Naidoo, calling the country to vote for parties that represent Judeo-Christian values? In spite of the clear call, the ACDP only managed to get 2 parliamentary seats and the VF (Freedom Front) only just held onto their 3 seats, with both losing significant supporters, as Christians moved their votes elsewhere. Sadly, as brothers we did not all stand together, and the inevitable question we ask is, What now? Firstly, let me say how proud I am of so many of you who have trusted us and stood up boldly and been unashamedly outspoken about what is right and good. I am proud of you for standing up for your beliefs, many at a great cost. I am proud that you voted with your conscience and with the Kingdom in your hearts. I am proud of you because you did the job well and fulfilled what God has asked of you. So often, as we view Gods dealings with humanity, things have gone just this way - seemingly worse before getting better. Think of Abraham getting a promise and then seeming to lose it, only to have it given back at the very last hour. Think of Josephs dream being crushed and finding himself imprisoned, only many years later after many hardships did he see the fulfillment of his dream. Think of Gideons army shrinking to 300 before gaining a miraculous victory. These stories encourage us in moments like this. It is now when we remember the Scripture that says that the battle is not ours, but the Lords and that in our weakness He is strong (Hebrews 11:34). Who would have foreseen that in Christs humbling death God would produce the greatest victory, defeating death itself by allowing His Son to succumb to death? Remember that we seem to have been whittled down, yet we are not defeated. We have not been given over to persecution, and even if that does happen, our God is able to sustain us in the trial. So I ask you to hold onto faith along with a good conscience, and to continue steadfastly in faith. We inherit by steadfast endurance and after we have done all to keep standing, we stand firm yet again. We are compelled to do what is right, and it is for God to decide the results. He promises that even in our defeats, He can give victory and work in all things for the good of those who love Him. While we do not understand what God is doing during this time, as it seems that the Christian voice in Parliament has been diminished after we all took such a strong stand for God, we remember that our God works in ways we do not always perceive or understand. We must not forget that He is faithful. So very often, whenever Gods people had to do something for God and to have faith, there is first significant resistance to the point of looking that they might be defeated. But, then God comes and saves the day. We do not know. But what we do know, is that we will continue to do the right thing before Him - just like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego when faced with being thrown into the fire for not denying their God. Like them, let our response be: Our God will save us, but even if He does not, we will still worship Him! And so we will continue to do the right thing and trust that as we continue faithfully, God will have His way. Through FOR SA (Freedom of Religion SA) we will continue to petition the Church to stand united, and then government to take note. So we continue our struggle, until God says otherwise. Bless you all for your faithfulness and love. Be of good cheer. God is with us, and in the end, we WIN! Love, Andrew About the Author
