A plea to all motorway users - please keep left unless you are overtaking. Lane discipline is covered by rules 264 to 266 of the Highway Code. The middle lane, will not give you more mpg, it is not a safe lane to text or use your phone in, it is not exclusively for holiday makers or daytrippers,or students with overloaded cars. Over use of it will lead to congestion, you can check if you and your car are a cause of congestion, by A. Looking in front of you , B. looking in your rear view mirror, if the results of B. are greater than A, then you are probably the cause of the congestion. Please keep left unless overtaking - the good news is the police now have the powers to fine the middle lane hoggers. Rant over tomorrow nights rant will be joining the motorway safely........
