A post on FB asked, What are grassroots? My first cynical response was, Idealists kicked to the curb by the DP. As the corporate state begins to abandon manufactured consent, mainstream electoral politics grows increasingly toxic, increasingly disconnected from the everyday life of Americas working families. Reduced to sound bites, empty slogans, and attack ads, the electoral process has surrendered to the cult of personality with all the relevance of a reality TV show pitting beautiful people against each other on a tropical island most of us could never afford to visit. The grassroots is where whats left of our experiment in self governance still exists in practice; an orphan at the moment in the electoral storm. Once this latest dog and pony show is behind us, it is where Americas activists need to meet to begin building the American Resistance.
