A quick public service announcement.... Happy Anniversary to my parents tomorrow. 24 actual years & 30+ of dating and knowing each other. My parents are the pinnacle of being romantic take these prime examples.... This time last year... Mom got here updated kitchen in return Dad retired & got a new knee 10 days later. It was a terrific Christmas season last year bah..humbug! This past spring/summer...Dad got new fences, water trough & built his barn addition in return Mom got a new Amish dining room table & chairs. This fall...Dad got a pond well Karlie... and in return Mom got new windows for the house. All in all they were both happy with their bountiful gifts. They are the romantic type, as when 2 years ago on their anniversary they spent it with us in the woods splitting firewood. I was pitching the wood onto the trailer and a piece smashed down on Moms hand. She was crying, I was crying and Dad bent down on one knee, spit on her hand, took her wedding band off as she thought she broke her hand. Doc checked her over and said she was her typical self. Mom & Dad are two tongue tied, opinionated as an ox, sometimes grumpy/grumbling usually at one another or Karlie & I... love to play practical jokes at each others expense; this is a good thing I promise. Yet they dont like to admit they are exactly the same mind set, and are alike in plenty of ways. They do show each other much love, support, care, and appreciation in their own unique way. As neither wants to be seen as the mushy, gushy, cant hold it together, sentimental types. As I usually am... I have to keep working, if I ever retire your Dad will drive me to drink, or Ill rid of him with the backhoe. That way theres no witnesses. Your Mother drives me nuts, she never shuts up; just keeps talking and talking and talking, I cant get a word in. Dad, youre the exact same! We are not talking about me right now. When you put two dairy farmers, their strengths, weaknesses, and smarts together you come up with a pretty great combo. *They are just going to love the thought Ive put into this....
