Labour cannot be intimidated in the course of phcn privatisation. - TopicsExpress

Labour cannot be intimidated in the course of phcn privatisation. All the parties involved must be ready to play according to the rules. We outrightly reject the illegal and forceful distribution of letters of disengagement to staff when labour issues have not been fully settled. This is contrary to the agreements entered into with govt, that no worker shall exit before the full settlement of his/her entitlement. Some have not gotten severance package, pension liability is pending, 2011 todate statutory retirees benefit is pending, 2500 casuals have not regularised, pre-retirement seminar has not been done, etc. Therefore issuance of disengagement letters is a breach of agreement and the union will resist it accordingly. Members should rise up to their responsibilities and resist illegality. We are law abiding citizens and shall always act according to the law, but are rights and previleges must be respected. If an agreement has been entered into, let all the parties respect the agreement. Nobody/party should behave as if he/she is above the law. Aluta continua.
