CATCH THE LATEST FISHING REPORT! Our Houseboat crews and tackle shop customers have had a good week on the water, the start of the week gave us the best weather with very light winds and plenty of sunshine, later in the week the SE picked up a bit but the weekend looks good with light SE to E winds on the way. I was out on the water on Tuesday with my mate Wayne looking for a few fish on lures, the weather was perfect just a light SW wind which dropped off to nothing as the morning progressed. The signs in the southern end of the Broadwater were good with bait schools moving around the channels. We managed to get a couple of hits from Tailor but no hook up’s it’s seems the fish schools were a bit more broken up than normal making it a bit hard to find good numbers to troll for. Wayne ended up catching a nice quality GT over 50cm and we did see some good sized schools of small Queen Fish moving around the mouth of the Seaway and Wave Break Island. The signs are all good leading into the winter months as the nights get cooler the bait will get thicker and the predators won’t be far behind. Our Houseboat customers reported some solid Bream being caught at Short Island, Tiger Mullet Channel, Dux Anchorage, Jacobs Well and Tipplers Passage. Best baits are Prawns, Fishos, Mullet Fillet, White Pilchards and Yabbies. It will be worth a look around the Jumpinpin area for a Tailor or Jew Fish this week, both fish will frequent in similar area’s to feed. Keep an eye out for the birds following the bait fish as the Tailor will be in the general area feeding. Some good Jew Fish spots to try will be along Short Island, Canaipa Passage, Perry’s Hole, Five Ways and Tiger Mullet Channel. Live Mullet, Tailor, Pike or Mullet Fillet make great baits for Jew Fish. Don’t forget the Crab Pots as we have seen some nice Mud Crabs and Sand Crabs being caught this week. Being up to date with the rules and regulations when fishing in Queensland is very important if you are looking at keeping a feed of fish and crabs. We do recommend you take the time to be well informed on how big a fish should be, bag limits or what crabs you are legally allowed to keep before you go fishing. If you follow the rules you will have a great day out and look after the future of fishing, don’t get caught out. We recommend you follow the link to Queensland Fisheries website to view current regulations. daff.qld.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/rules-regulations You can pick up a rule book from us at Coomera Bait & Tackle free of charge. Don’t forget the Camera to capture the memory of your fantastic catch. The weather forecast for the weekend is good with light SE to E winds and just the chance of a shower. Good Luck to everyone Fishing this weekend. If you have any great catches to report give us a call 07 5502 6200 or fishing photos please email them to [email protected] Brett
