A quick thinking NSW RFS volunteer saved the life of a farmer - TopicsExpress

A quick thinking NSW RFS volunteer saved the life of a farmer yesterday, east of Armidale. Lower Creek Brigade firefighters were working with the property owner to control the fire when a sudden wind change blew the fire back towards them and separated the NSW RFS crew from the farmer. Concerned for the welfare of the farmer and with no other way to access him, a NSW RFS volunteer drove his truck through flames. He found the farmer with his tractor, which had broken down and was surrounded by fire. The NSW RFS firefighter was able to rescue the farmer and drive them both to safety. Neither the farmer nor the NSW RFS firefighter sustained any injuries, however the truck was slightly damaged.
