Three Ogres, tall and tusked, pointed sawed-off shotguns at the barista behind the counter and a waiter standing over a mound of broken pottery. Both held their hands above their heads. A third employee, a Fey with the broad features and bug eyes of a frog, shoved cash from the register and plastic-wrapped baked goods into a canvas rucksack. “We’re outgunned, Jules,” Karen breathed. Her brother snorted. “A MacGregor is never outgunned. You take the one on the right, and I’ll take the other two.” She rolled her eyes. “You have a very high opinion of that pistol.” “No. I have a very high opinion of my marksmanship. Are you going to stab somebody with that thing, or are you just going to stand around looking pretty?” Karen grinned. “I’m probably going to stab somebody while I look pretty. I’m multi-talented like that.”
