A recent trip to Amsterdam, the City of Rivers, turned out to be amazing. From humble beginnings as a 13th-century fishing village on a riverbed, it has become a major hub for commerce and culture (this is at the heart of its 700-year heritage). A city with 165 canals, 181 bridges and over nearly 9,000 16th, 17th & 18th century buildings. It is believed that there are more bicycles in Amsterdam than permanent residents. In recent years, the city’s landscape has evolved with the emergence of modern architecture, such as the Eye Film Institute.
