A secular approach Few of you are aware that I have started my career with a professional training from a national institute which is directly under government ministry. One day I found an idol (almost 10” height) at training hall on the top of the panel. I felt the government institute should not be sacred cow. After completing the class I wrote down my objection in the feedback form. Next day I found there are something changed. The head of the institute came and started scoffing me. He blamed me for learning less and pointing out ‘unwanted objects’. None of my classmate gave a single support to me. The boy, who belongs to other religion (so called minority community), he also kept silent. I was threatened that they would give written complain for my activity to the company who sponsored my course. First time I realized the meaning of the word ‘unwanted’. Beliefs belong to individual. My perception is tilled now unchanged. But the director/ all lecturers had to change one thing. The idol was removed silently from the top of the panel. A Bengali young blood that moved out and relocated him in a changed scenario, could not adopt that illogical approach. Now friends, what do you think, is it secularism?
