A serious question for my musical and other Facebook friends: What does a person do? Dan Haines of Egg Harbor City, NJ, bass player and former LIVE AT THE FILLMORE™ band member was fired many months ago for, among other transgressions, insubordination, offensive public comments construed as racist, homophobic, anti-semitic, vulgar, unacceptable, inappropriate (and illegal) behavior at venues during performances, etc.. This, after many second, third and fourth chances that no other band leader would likely offer. After continued well wishes and repeated encouragement to focus on more positive efforts along with requests and demands to discontinue his acts including making threats and slanderous and libelous statements about myself, my band mates, our family members, friends and associates publicly, on Facebook and to venues, agents and other music industry associates, Dan continues to pursue these activities. Legal action, restraining orders, harassment suits dont seem to concern him. Im one of MANY others who have suffered similarly as a result of his apparent irrational behavior over a period of many years (and offered to stand up and make their experience known). Along with those others, I finally reached the point where I could no longer allow him to damage LIVE AT THE FILLMORE™s name, reputation and opportunity and had to terminate his association with the band. Then, all the above ensued. I realize Dan Haines is already somewhat a pariah among much of the southern NJ music and social community but the question again is....... What does a person do when other alternatives have been exhausted?
