A shooting occurred late this morning off campus. Chester police are investigating and have assured the university that there is no threat to the campus and did not involve members of the university community. The shooting took place off campus on the other side of I-95. The victim then drove in a car over I-95 on Melrose Avenue in front of the Spang parking lot where he exited the car. As a precautionary measure, the university responded quickly and asked everyone to shelter in place. The shelter in place was lifted at 11:27 a.m. As always, the university community is encouraged to exercise caution and to inform Campus Safety of any unusual activity and to use the Campus Safety Escort Service.
