A sincere “thank you” to the following people and organizations that helped with National Night Out 2014: Chief Steve Wilder, North Canton PD Sheriff George Maier and the Stark County Sheriff’s Office Canton PD (Officer Dennis Garren) and Canton PD SWAT Sharon George (Stark County Safe Communities) and their volunteers (the child fingerprint kits were very popular) MPD Officers: Chief Keith Moser, Sgt Mike Maier, Officer Jamie Slutz, Officer Fred Alexander, K-9 Officer Miguel Riccio (Guys, I REALLY appreciate your help, big-time) Sgt Joel Smith, Ohio State Highway Patrol (he’s a former Tiger…he always comes lol) Erica Thom from MADFACT Will Bohnak from Target: We started working together on this last year. Will is a great “link” to the assets of a big corporation like Target. Thanks, Will! Target: It’s very nice that corporations like Target take some of their assets, and put them towards a program like National Night Out. The kids and community in general seem to enjoy it! Brent and Terry from Patriot Towing. They brought two of their vehicles, which was really nice. Reed’s Towing and the entire Reed’s family. They brought one heck of a display that everyone enjoyed. I called it, “Big Red”. Lol Dunkin Donuts (Thanks to Rachel and Craig for donating nearly 100 donuts. Officer Jamie Slutz handed them out. Someone check his pockets. Lol Brett Ulrich (Affinity Hospital) was handing out some jump-ropes and things for the kids. Thanks to the Massillon Street Dept for providing us with the barricades. Smiley’s Restaurant (The people really enjoyed the food. Delicious, as usual). Thanks, Mr. Smiley! Guy Cicchini (owner of McDonald’s (Lincoln Way East) provided drinks! Thanks, Mr Cicchini! K-9 demo: Director of Training (trainer) at B.A.R.K. Tom Schmidt , Kathy Schmidt, and police K-9 handlers: 1) Heather Stask from Brunswick Hills PD. 2) Chuck Stout from ODNR. 3) Gene Martin from Reminderville PD. 4) Jamie Price from SCSO. 5) Sgt. Tim Garris from Cleveland Metro Parks. 6) Mike Kort from Cleveland Metro Parks. 7) Josh Barabasch from Canal Fulton PD. 8) Stark Parks Ranger Jonathan Crock and “Gunnar”. 9) MPD Officer Miguel Riccio and K-9 “Inca”. B.A.R.K. (Buckeye Regional Area K-9) The K-9 show was popular, as usual. K-9 work takes tremendous dedication and the community benefits ten-fold. Thanks to those dedicated men and women for what they do! Massillon Fire Dept (Reggie Winters from Fire Prevention / Arson). He is always a great help. I think everyone enjoyed checking out that MFD truck… University Hospitals, Tom Luczynski, and his flight crew for landing the Med-Evac. The US Army (SSG Michael Moore and his fellow soldiers for setting up their cool display and talking to the kids). I hope I did not forget anyone. Feel free to mention anyone below under “comments”.
