A story for a person like me :-) A business man was deep in debt and could see no way out. People who lend him the money were chasing him for re-payment. One day he was sitting on a bench of a park and thinking if anything could save his company form bankruptcy. Suddenly an old man appeared before him and said, “I can see something is troubling you”. After listening to the businessman’s woes, the old man said, “I believe I can help you”. He asked the Businessman’s name, wrote a cheque and pushed it into his hand saying, “take this money”. Meet me exactly after 1 year from today in this same place and pay me back the money. He then disappeared as quickly as he had come. The businessman saw in his hands a cheque of 50 Lacs. “I can erase all my worries in an instant”, he thought. However the businessman did not withdraw the cash immediately, instead he thought he can do so when he is totally helpless. With only the confidence of having a cheque in his hands he started negotiating bigger deals and got extended terms of payments and within a year he was out of all his debts. Exactly after 1 year he decided to return back the un-cashed cheque to the old man. The old man did not appear for some time, still the businessman decided to wait. A while later the old man came to the park, but seem to be unmindful about the businessman and did not bother to speak to him. He however managed to stop him and was about to pass the cheque to him and say a few words of thanks. At the same time he saw a nurse come running behind and grabbing the old man. “I’m so glad I caught him”, she cried. “I hope he hasn’t been bothering you. He’s always escaping from the mental hospital nearby and telling everyone that he is a rich man”. She then led the old man away. The astonished businessman stood there, stunned. All year long he’d been wheeling and dealing, buying and selling, convinced just because he had a 50 Lacks dummy cheque in his hand. He then realized that it was not the money which, real or imagined that turned his life around but his new found self-confidence that gave him the power to achieve everything he wanted.
